Abstract
Introduction: Leaves of Dimocarpus longan, which are efficacious as an antioxidant, is one of the plants originating from the subtropical region, and able to grow and produce well in tropical regions of Indonesia including Bengkulu Province. Objective: To make lotion preparations from Longan leaf extract with concentrations of 0.5%, 1.5% and 2.5%. Methods: This study was an experimental study, aimed at making a formula of longan leaf extract. Longan leaf extract was prepared using maceration method. Lotion was made in 3 formulas with a base concentration of stearic acid namely F1 with extract concentration of 0.5%, F2 with a concentration of 1.5%, and F3 concentration of 2.5%. Results: Lotion from longan leaf extract was evaluated for 4 weeks including organoleptic, homogenity test, pH test, dispersion test, emulsion type test, irritation test, and acceptability test. From the research results, Longan leaf extract can be formulated into lotion preparations. Lotion with 0.5% extract concentration in F1 was the best formula. The shape was rather thick, light green, fragrant lemon, homogeneous with pH 6 and spreads 5 - 7 cm, did not irritate the skin and was preferred by the panelists. Conclusion: Lotion form longan leaf extract can be made in with various concentrations. The physical properties of lotion preparations with variations in the levels of longan leaf extract did not affect the physical stability of the lotion and did not change during testing.
