STUDY PROGRAM OF BACHELOR OF NURSING FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF WEST SUMATRA Thesis, August 2025 Nindy Anisya Putri The Relationship Between Knowledge and Self-Management of Coronary Heart Disease Patients at the Regional General Hospital in Padang Panjang, 2025 VIII+VI Chapters (46 Pages) + 4 Tables + 2 Schemes + 10 Appendices ABSTRACT Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. However, many patients lack adequate knowledge about CHD. Good self-management among CHD patients is essential to prevent complications and improve quality of life. Patients’ knowledge of their illness is believed to play an important role in supporting their ability to perform selfmanagement. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and self-management among CHD patients at the Regional General Hospital of Padang Panjang in 2025.This research employed a descriptive crosssectional design. The study population consisted of all CHD patients at RSUD Padang Panjang, with a sample of 57 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with the Chisquare test. The results showed that the majority (50.9%) had poor knowledge, while (49.1%) had good knowledge. The Chi-square test revealed a p-value of 0.020 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between patients’ knowledge and their self-management of CHD.It is recommended to enhance health education for patients and conduct further studies involving other influencing factors.
