Abstract
This study aims to identify errors made by students in writing analytical exposition texts in English learning. The research applied error analysis using a qualitative descriptive approach. The instrument used was an analytical exposition writing test. The participants were 15 eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kecamatan Akabiluru. The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of errors and their causes. The results showed that students made 41 writing errors, categorized into omission, misformation, and misordering. The highest percentage of errors was misformation (63.41%), followed by misordering (21.95%), and omission (14.63%). Regarding the causes, most errors were due to carelessness (39.02%), followed by first language influence (46.34%), and the least frequent cause was translation (14.63%).
