Abstract

Married at the age of less than 18 years is a reality that must be faced by some children throughout the world, especially developing countries including Indonesia. The implementation of laws is often ineffective and broken by the customs and traditions that govern the social norms of a community group. Until now, underage marriages can still be found in tribes or underdeveloped communities in various regions of Indonesia. Although the actual existence of marriage or underage marriage is often not widely known by others, but this incident remains a separate phenomenon that deserves mutual attention. Basically, Islam does not limit when a person can get married. Al-Quran Allah only gives maturity cues with the term rusyd (smart, wise). Islam also teaches that to achieve success in marriage (to get happiness, peace of mind and spirit) a set of rules is needed; like anyone who can be married, steps in marriage. Nevertheless, Islam does not reject a country's policy that limits age in determining maturity. Of course, as long as the boundaries depart from the philosophy of maintaining the benefit of humanity.
