Abstract
This research aims to develop a semi-automatic cassava cutting machine with a capacity of 10kg using discs as blades in order to increase the efficiency and quality of the cassava cutting process, which is one of the raw materials for Indonesian food. This research started from a literature study which involved collecting and analyzing information with the aim of understanding the needs of society. The design methodology includes identification of needs, mechanical design, material selection, and testing of the tool. The way this machine works is to direct the cassava onto a rotating disc. This disc is designed with the appropriate sharpness and thickness needed to cut cassava according to the specified thickness. The aim of this research is to develop a cassava grinding machine or chopping machine that can make the work process more effective, designing a semi-automatic cassava cutting tool with dimensions of 1000 mm long x 750 mm wide x 850 mm high. From the data obtained, the rotation of the motor used is 2802 Rpm, while the diameter of the driving and driven pulleys is 76.2 mm and 254 mm. From the calculation for table step length, the result is 1.15 cm/sec. The results of machine testing showed that the heavier the load, the longer the cutting time, but the consistent thickness results were 2mm thick. Keywords: cassava cutting machine, disc disc, cassava, motor rotation, design
