Abstract

This research is a research on the development of local wisdom-based English teaching materials. Local wisdom is the choice of researcher because it is in accordance with the direction of the independent curriculum, where teachers must make teaching materials according to the character and environment of students. Students are given the freedom to create quality learning according to the needs and environment of students. This study aims to develop English teaching materials based on local wisdom. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D). This research was conducted using the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation, whereas in this case the researcher only focused on three stages, namely: Analysis, Design and Development. The results of research and development of teaching materials carried out are known based on the results of validation with criteria 3 ≤ V ≤ 4.5 in terms of aspects of delivery of material, aspects of content and material, aspects of grammar and readability and graphic aspects with a final validation score of 4.3 which fulfills valid criteria. So that teaching materials based on local wisdom are feasible to be used as teaching materials. Researchers recommend teachers to use teaching materials with local wisdom in the process of learning English.
