Abstract

The Sumatera Trans Road KM 77-81 in Nagari Palaluar serves as a primary collector road connecting Sijunjung Regency with Tanah Datar Regency. The road's geometric conditions show deviations from technical safety standards, with inadequate road infrastructure facilities including malfunctioning street lights, damaged signage, absence of road barriers, and poorly maintained road markings. This research aims to identify accidentprone areas, determine road safety audit findings, and formulate traffic accident mitigation measures based on road safety audit findings. The research employs a quantitative approach using accident-prone area analysis and road safety analysis. Accident-prone area analysis utilizes a scoring system considering injury severity levels, material damage, road functional classification, and road status. Safety audits encompass 13 evaluation components. Results indicate that during 2020-2024, 45 accident victims occurred with 82% minor injuries and 18% fatalities. The highest accident rate was 4.0 accidents/km in 2023 with a 31% Severity Index. Two black spot locations were identified: KM 77-78 (11 deficiency categories) and KM 80-81 (8 deficiency categories). Recommendations for KM 77-78 include 10 improvement types: signage procurement, road marking maintenance, road stud installation, obstacle tree removal, rumble strip installation, stop sign procurement, road preservation, and drainage repair. For KM 80-81, seven improvements are needed: signage procurement, road marking maintenance, road stud installation, delineator reflector replacement, tree removal, and road preservation. Implementing these recommendations is expected to reduce accident potential and enhance road user safety. Keywords: Road safety audit, black spot, traffic accidents, Sumatera Trans Road
